Diet is one
of the most important aspects of caring for your canine
companion. It is also one of the areas where you can have
complete control over every ingredient. We strongly believe that feeding a B.A.R.F.
(Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) diet is the best possible
way to feed your new puppy and adult dog. Preparation of this
diet can be time consuming, but the results are worth it!
As this diet becomes more mainstream, there are more and more
companies willing to make this preparation easier.
At
Northbridge we feed a combination of raw meaty bones, Oma's
Pride Raw Food, and select supplements. If you would like to
know exactly what we feed, please send me an e-mail.
Books I recommend are "Give Your
Dog A Bone" by Dr. Ian Billinghurst, "Switching to
Raw" by Susan K. Johnson and "The Ultimate Diet"
by Kymythe Schultz. Although these diets vary slightly,
they are excellent sources of information on raw feeding. Not
everyone feels comfortable feeding this type of diet, however.
For those who choose to feed a more conventional kibble, please
learn to read the labels. Learn what those ingredients really
are!! There are a few quality kibbles out there. Links to a few
of these dog foods can be found on this page. |
